Mannheim’s showcase is the Rosengarten (m:con) Congress Centre . The impressive sandstone building has been the location for a variety of events since 1903. The new building sits alongside the existing building, was officially opened on 1st December and opened to the public on 2nd December 2007. Brähler ICS tailor designed the fully digital conference system CDSVAN to meet m:con’s need. Out of the total number of conference rooms three of those hold more importance. Brähler ICS has combined the approved conference technology with the relatively new RFID-technique. This combination sets a new milestone in the conference industry. Delegate units are installed in the separate conference rooms. These units have a microphone which is immune to mobile phone and WLAN interference. It possesses built-in voting keys, a large, high-quality display, a channel selector for listening to simultaneous interpretation and an RFID-reader. The RFID reader is an innovation within the CDSVAN system; it allows the use of the existing identification cards for access and as well as for managing attendance during the audience response or voting. In addition, other applications are possible e.g. a delegate report during a meeting.

The entire system works with interpreter control consoles DOLV which includes Braille letters to allow visually impaired interpreters to work within the booth as well.
